Lower School Cross Country Team Concludes a Successful Season

The Country Day School (CDS) and Junior School (JS) joined forces to form one impressive cross-country team, competing against local independent schools with 48 enthusiastic boys and girls from the JS and 23 spirited participants from CDS. This season has been a remarkable journey, filled with determination and triumph, culminating in a memorable championship meet.

Led by the dedicated coaching staff of Karen DiFiore, Amanda Peterman, and Justin Rebitch from CDS, as well as coaches Jenn Riscili, Chase Walter, Nick Hammon, Christina Blazin, Dave D’Incau, and Brandon Howe from JS, our young athletes gave their all in five exhilarating races held at various parks across the city.

The pinnacle of their hard work and perseverance was the championship held at Frick Park on Sunday, October 15. Their performances were impressive, showcasing their dedication to the sport and commitment to teamwork.

The results spoke for themselves, with the Novice girls (grades 2 & 3) securing a well-deserved second place. The Novice boys (grades 2 & 3) displayed their strength and determination, clinching an admirable third place. In the Junior Varsity (JV) category, the girls (grades 4 & 5) secured a remarkable second place, while the JV boys (grades 4 & 5) placed a commendable fifth.

This season was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience of our young athletes. We couldn't be prouder of their achievements and the supportive coaching team that guided them every step of the way. It's not just about winning; it's about instilling a love for the sport, fostering teamwork, and teaching valuable life lessons. Congratulations to our Lower Schools' cross-country team for a fantastic season, and here's to many more victorious races in the future!
