On a sunny Friday morning, Shady Side Academy celebrated a significant capital improvement – the expansion of the Junior School Early Learning Center. The event, which took place on September 29, 2023, was marked by a joyous ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Academy leadership, faculty, staff, students, and parents.
The expansion project, a testament to Shady Side Academy's commitment to academic excellence and growth, increased the footprint of the state-of-the-art facility to accommodate the increasing number of Junior School students. The modern wing offers an enhanced learning environment, complete with spacious classrooms, outdoor space, and advanced technology. All of which are designed to enhance the learning of our pre-k and kindergarten students.
As the event began, students, parents, and teachers eagerly gathered outside the new building. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation as Academy President Bart Griffith ’93, gave a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to everyone who contributed to the project's success. He emphasized that this expansion would enrich the educational experience for Shady Side’s youngest learners.
While students have been enjoying the new space since the beginning of the school year, the ceremony provided an opportunity to celebrate and thank all those who contributed to the completion of the project. The event concluded with a reception, where attendees mingled and celebrated the growth of Shady Side Academy. The expansion promises to facilitate a rich and dynamic learning environment for the Junior School students, fostering their academic development and personal growth.
